To residents and visitors alike, this week traditionally has quite a bit of energy associated with it. It’s the week of the 147th Antigonish Highland Games.

The heat is on.
Today in Antigonish all the talk is about the beach or alternate ways to keep cool. Around town, people can be seen with makeshift swimming pools, iced coffees, ice cream, and general ambition toward avoiding the heat. We wish for this weather during winters in Nova Scotia, and then do our best to escape it when it arrives.
With Environment Canada’s Weather Office reporting today’s high at 30 C (34 with Humidex), finding a way to keep cool is a great idea not only for comfort, but for health reasons as well. Staying hydrated on days like today and taking breaks from the heat are great ways to enjoy the summer.
So, whether you’re off to the beach, pool, or air-conditioned area, enjoy what I hope is one of many more sunny summer days.
